Job Summary

The Westin Seattle is looking for a Banquet Supervisor who will delightfully assist the Banquet operation. The ideal Banquet Supervisor will provide levels of service that are established by management, and supervising the banquet team from set up to breakdown. Some responsibilities include checking all the rooms prior to the event, communicate with the Banquet Chef to ensure the quantity of food items and timeliness of food delivery are planned appropriately, check inventory for upcoming events, conduct pre-function meetings, review banquet event orders (BEOs), communicate with the meeting planner handling the function, review work functions for the day and upcoming week, ensure food is served at the appropriate temperature, and total charges for group functions.

Requirements

An exceptional candidate will have an energizing yet relaxing personality and:

  • must speak, read, write and understand the primary languages in the workplace

  • have good communication skills

  • basic computer skills

  • be able to stand and exert well-paced ability for up to four hours in length

  • be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks

  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests and associates

  • Must have a working knowledge of types of room set-ups, capacities, relation to type of event, etc

  • Must be able to prepare and analyze data and figures, and transcriptions prepared on and generated by computer

  • Must have exceptional organizational, supervisory skills

  • Must have excellent interpersonal and sales-related skills

  • Must have exceptional food and beverage knowledge and pricing

  • have finger dexterity to operate equipment

  • High school or equivalent education required

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred

  • Previous hotel food and beverage experience preferred

  • maintain a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance per Marriott standards

  • be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
