Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure and Operations (MCIO) manages the capacity needed to build out the Microsoft Cloud, which is undergoing explosive growth (100%+ y/y), as customers around the world realize the benefits of moving their services and applications to cloud based platforms. This explosive growth requires us to build out capacity on a global scale to keep up with demand. The Cloud Provisioning Engineering (CPE) organization provisions the core infrastructure (both network and server) needed for the Microsoft cloud. The CPE organization manages the end-to-end deployment and decommission process and provides engineering solutions to our internal business partners. This Sr PM Process Engineering role is an opportunity to assess business operational gaps and re-engineer processes by diving deep into tooling and databases required to perform operational tasks and enhance the functionality of the tooling and reporting systems. You will have the ability to partner with our Engineering Development teams as well as deliver your own designed solutions based on customer needs. The ideal candidate will apply efficient yet thorough data analysis and reporting skills. To be successful, you must have a strong understanding and proven track record in managing global delivery of highly scalable cloud services. You will contribute to the strategy to help Partners and CPDE manage costs while remaining focused on providing high quality high availability services for Microsoft customers. Candidates must demonstrate competence and be comfortable and composed working across all levels, in day-to-day problem resolution scenarios with functional and technical subject matter experts, but also in preparation for and defense of regular periodic executive (GM/VP-level) presentations and service reviews. This position requires a detailed understanding of server and IT based technologies with a penchant for process and procedure. In addition to these basic skills the candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, excel at project management and be willing to review in detail the work performed by others to ensure adherence to established standards.

Responsibilities

  • Build collaborative relationships within CPDE to deeply understand partner business goals and needs, and work stakeholders to deeply understand scenarios and then map system and functional requirements

  • Contribute to architecture discussion to drive infrastructure consistency and process efficiency, establish convergence roadmap, and direct concurrent program initiatives.

  • Envision and deliver tools to run world-class global infrastructure with the best performance for our partners and customers.

  • Drive continuous progress towards a multi-release plan for improving CPDE partner satisfaction and business results. .

  • Drive strategic decisions and execution to help deliver software solutions at scale.

  • Define and own the technical vision for meeting customer operational tooling needs.

  • Highlighting and executing automation opportunities that allow us to scale at unprecedented volume.

  • Driving standardization and delivery.

  • Lead team automation efforts and standardize development methodologies to enhance workflow.

  • Creating software process modeling and data flow diagrams.

  • Optimizing existing engineering processes that increase both velocity and quality.

Qualifications

Experience required:

  • BS in Computer Science or relevant Engineering Degree

  • Data Science background a plus

  • Fluency in program/project management and release management

  • Strong capability delivering solutions and reporting, using SQL and visualization tools such as PowerBI/Tableau.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in data modeling and predictive analysis, this includes business requirements gathering, system design and implementation, and ongoing maintenance of reports and tools

  • Background in all aspects of software engineering and development lifecycles

  • Familiarity working with Microsoft Azure Cloud Services

  • Demonstrated ability to understand, summarize, and communicate complex data issues

  • Demonstrated track record of exceeded established goals on a consistent basis

  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft cloud infrastructure a plus
