We in the WA office of Randstad Technologies & Embedded Engineering are looking for an RF Test Technician for one of our clients in the greater Seattle area.

Role and responsibilities

  • Set up antennas for testing in near- and far-field chambers

  • Mount the antennas in the chambers

  • Navigate a GUI

  • Select the files and input parameters for testing

  • Potentially run other RF tests, such as S parameters

  • Second-shift availability, typically 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. or similar

  • Must be available, therefore, to work first shift, second shift or weekends, or any combination thereof, as needed, though second shift is the highest priority

  • Run RF and environmental tests, plus (1) monitor such tests for product failure or chamber failure and (2) troubleshoot any failures to minimize test interruptions

  • Communicate test results for each shift

  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds


  • Able to

  • Operate RF test equipment, such as network analyzers

  • Operate antenna test chambers such as Near field and Compact Far Field

  • Troubleshoot test setup failures, mechanical motor malfunctions, software crashes and similar occurrences, as would happen during product testing


  • Technical knowledge of RF communication products

  • Familiarity with terms such as "gain," "dB," et al.

  • Able to

  • Troubleshoot machinery and fixtures (cables, connectors, etc.) used in test chambers

  • Communicate information using standard Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, Office, PowerPoint, Project and Visio

  • Use company-wide tools and systems to execute the key duties and responsibilities of the job


  • 3+ years of experience

  • Running and troubleshooting electronic test equipment, particularly RF test equipment

  • Operating test chambers for electronic products

  • Additional experience

  • Running environmental chambers

Additional pluses

  • Experience with test engineering and RF products such as antennas or amplifiers

  • Orbit 959 software experience


  • Associate's degree in electronics or a related field, ideally, or equivalent-seeming depth and range of experience
