Facebook Academic Relations Program Manager in Redmond, Washington
At Oculus Research, we’re developing the future of virtual reality. As an Academic Relations Program Manager, you will work closely with internal Oculus teams to develop academic engagement strategies and lead the negotiations between academic institutions and Oculus. To be successful, you will be eliminating barriers to your team’s success by identifying risks and determine the best academic engagement model to achieve the goals of the research team. This role requires a high attention to detail and a drive to find solutions, while ensuring the big picture stays in focus. Ideal team members are adaptable, resilient, eager to attack unfamiliar problems, possess stellar negotiation skills, diplomatic and have proven record of accomplishment.
Develop, build and manage our research lab’s relationships and collaborations with universities partners all over the world.
Work with research teams and academic staff to develop engagement models, intellectual property strategies, proposals, budgets, and contract teams for research and studies.
Identify and develop academic engagement strategies that align with organizational goals.
Support researchers collaborations with universities through providing expert advice, guidance, solutions and engagement with business partners.
Ensure that the information your team and business partners needs is complete, current, accurate, and easy to find.
Proactively identify technical, legal, procedural, logistical and communication issues and drive timely creative solutions while minimizing risks.
Serve as point of contact for Oculus’ university partners and participate in the academic-industry relations community.
4+ years of experience as business manager in highly technical fields in a research and/or academic setting.
Knowledge in university technology transfer departments and negotiations.
Experience negotiating sponsored research agreements.
Experience engaging internal and external partners to ensure concerns are addressed while also driving resolution of issues.
Organization and planning experience.
Experience leading through influence.
Proven experience in operating autonomously across multiple teams.
Bachelors degree in a technical field and/or business.
Direct experience working with a cross-disciplinary teach of researchers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, optical engineers, and software engineers.
Experience with various academic engagement models.
